Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I order? Can I order via this website?
You can order in store at any Hillier Garden Centre. Although it is not possible to purchase directly through this website, you can make an enquiry using our contact form or, alternatively, phone your nearest Garden Centre for more information. Please be aware that all furniture items purchased in our Garden Centres will need to be ordered for later delivery and are not available for immediate collection.
2. Can you arrange delivery?
Hillier is pleased to offer a free delivery service on all furniture sets over the value of £499 for delivery within a 50-mile radius of the Garden Centre where the purchase is made. Delivery for lower value products or outside this radius may be made at a charge of £30 subject to availability. Please discuss this with a staff member when purchasing.
3. How long will it take for my furniture set to arrive? And how will you arrange a delivery slot with me?
When placing your furniture order, you will be advised of the approximate length of time until delivery. For furniture sets held in stock, we aim for this to be ten working days or less. For any bespoke additions that are not held in stock and need to be ordered, there is a minimum 8-week wait. When ordering a stocked set with additional items not held in stock, the customer will have the option of receiving the delivery in two parts with stock items despatched within 10 working days and additional items to follow.
Alternatively, the entire order can be delivered together with the longer lead time dependent on the additional items. Every effort is made to give accurate information when estimating a delivery time but occasionally, for reasons beyond our control, there may be an additional delay. In this circumstance, we will, of course, keep you fully informed. Once your order is confirmed as available for delivery we will contact you to agree on specific arrangements for the date of delivery. Wherever possible, delivery will be made on the first vehicle in your area following your order. Wherever possible, we will try to be flexible with our delivery times to suit you, however, we are unable to store your order for delivery at a later date.
4. Will you carry my item of furniture to my garden and assemble it?
On the delivery day, our delivery drivers will unload your furniture and carry it to the desired location within your home or garden. In addition, should you require, the drivers will be happy to unpack the furniture and take away all the packing material. If you have narrow passageways or sharp corners between where the vehicle will need to offload and your desired location for the furniture, please discuss this on the telephone when you are contacted to arrange delivery. We regret that our drivers are unable to build any furniture sets or components for you on delivery.
5. How do you recommend I care for my furniture set?
Care needed for your furniture set will vary dependent on the material chosen. Most products can be left outside throughout the summer season (excluding cushions, parasols and lazy susans).
For teak furniture, it is advised to apply special teak protector within a week of the furniture being outside for the first time to preserve the original colour, then re-apply once a season. Teak shield and teak cleaner products are also available to minimise stains and remove and ‘weathered’ colouration. Teak has a high natural oil content, so it is NOT advised to use teak oil as this can make the furniture turn black, sticky and patchy in colour. When left untreated outdoors, the colour will gradually mellow to a light colour. Beware of using non-breathable covers to protect as these can cause the furniture to sweat and go mouldy, causing black spots on surface areas. Teak is extremely durable, which is why it is often used to make boats. The life expectancy of teak furniture is approximately 20 years.
Woven Material Care:
Woven furniture is made from manmade extruded polyethylene that means it is weather resistant and resistant to UV and colour fading, unlike natural rattan. Remove any surface dirt using warm water or a hose and sponge. Protect from general garden dirt with a cover.
6. What guarantee is available?
Guarantee varies by product, most sets come with a one or three-year guarantee. Please enquire in centres about the specific item you are interested in.
