Pyrus calleryana ‘Chanticleer’ a deciduous ornamental tree that enhances landscapes with its slender, upright and pyramidal structure, making it a preferred choice for urban and street planting. It originated from a selection made in the 1950’s, USA by Edward Scanlon, who dedicated her career to studying and propagating trees suitable for urban environments. ‘Chanticleer’ has earned acclaim as the ideal street tree. It stands out as one of the most widely planted varieties in urban locations across both Europe and America.

In spring, the tree bursts into life, adorned with a profusion of white blossoms that create a breath-taking floral showcase. ‘Chanticleer’ takes the lead in unfurling its glossy emerald green leaves, that are resistant to diseases. As autumn approaches, these leaves transition to vibrant shades of red, yellow and burgundy. This autumnal transition ranks ‘Chanticleer’ among the best ornamental pear varieties for its splendid display.

While other forms of Pyrus calleryana are available, in our experience, ‘Chanticleer’ surpasses them, making it the best choice for those seeking both beauty and resilience in an ornamental pear tree.
