Tilia platyphyllos ‘Prince’s Street’ is a cultivated variety of the large-leaved lime tree, known for its distinctive features. The deciduous tree presents mid-green heart shaped leaves with serrated edges, creating a lush canopy. Once leaves fall in autumn, the trees, reddish-brown in colour, become the highlight of the tree. The trees twigs are known for their resilience and ability to hold onto leaves longer than the Tilia platyphyllos.

During late spring to early summer, the tree produces fragrant clusters of small yellow flowers. Whilst not as prolific as Tilia europaea, they still produce a good source of nectar for bees and other pollinators.

‘Prince’s Street’ is well suited to various landscaping applications, including urban environments and larger garden settings. Its adaptability to different soil types, coupled with its symmetrical habit, makes it a resilient and versatile choice for parks and sites with limited space. It is large, robust and has an upward growth pattern, maintaining a narrow form for while before eventually adopting a pyramidal shape.
