The Sorbus intermedia ‘Brouwers’ is a medium sized tree that showcases a more upright growth pattern compared to the species. Its crown is oval and is more uniform than the species. This cultivar is particularly slow growing.
Leaves are dark green on top and white on the bottom with a felt-like texture. They are distinctly lobed featuring around 5-9 lobes on either side. These transition to yellows and oranges in autumn, however occasionally the vibrant hues might be absent.
The tree blooms with fragrant, creamy white flowers, followed by orange-red fruits that cluster in small groups and persist until October. Interestingly these are less appear less abundant compared to the species. Tolerates windy and difficult conditions, making it suitable for coastal areas. Resistant to fire blight.
