The Quercus castaneifolia ‘Green Spire’ is a large tree. A vigorous and tall tree of broadly columnar form, compact in habit, with narrow, oval, and shiny toothed leaves similar to the “Sweet Chestnut”. Superb large tree for avenue planting or restricted areas. Raised at Hillier Nurseries in 1948. Interestingly, it also produces prickly acorns up to 2-3cm across.
