This variety of silver birch grows to be of medium size with an upright form. The Betula pendula Fastigiata ‘Obelisk’ is a useful tree for tight spaces as the ‘obelisk’ is more compact. The leaves on this tree sprout early and drop late, turning yellow-brown in autumn. These birch roots are very shallow and do not cope well with saltwater spray.
