Sorbus aucuparia ‘Aspleniifolia’, commonly known as the Fern leaf Mountain Ash, is a captivating deciduous tree, known for its distinctive fern-like foliage and ornamental features. This cultivar is a selected form of the Sorbus aucuparia and is prized for its unique appearance.

The tree forms a rounded to broadly spreading crown with elegant, finely divided leaves reminiscent of ferns. Its foliage create a delicate and airy texture, providing a lovely green canopy during summer.

In late spring to early summer, the tree produces clusters of white flowers in corymbs, creating a contrast against the finely cut leaves. Following the bloom, the tree develops red-orange berries in late summer and early autumn, which not only add visual interest, but are also highly popular with native birds.

Come autumn, Sorbus aucuparia ‘Aspleniifolia’ undergoes a remarkable transformation, with the finely textured leaves taking on warm hues of orange and red. This seasonal display adds a vibrant touch to the landscape, making it standout feature wherever it is planted.

This hybrid is a strong grower, providing a robust tree full of vigour but which does not ultimately become too large.
