Acer platanoides ‘Princeton Gold’, also known as ‘Pringo’, stands out with its striking golden leaves. Resilient like its parent, it flourishes in diverse soil types, can tolerate air pollution, and drought. With its medium size, rounded crown and vibrant leaves, its perfect for landscapes aiming to highlight contrast.

In early spring, delicate yellow blossoms appear, attracting bees with their rich nectar and pollen. These blooms foreshadow the trees vibrant colour transformation to come. As spring unfolds, the leaves transition from a lemon sherbet hue to captivating shades of golden honey. These last through the initial summer days before the temperature rises and the leaves evolve into a cool olive green. This helps the tree to withstand intense sunlight.

Belonging to the Norway Maple lineage, this variety excels in demanding  urban settings, making it a go-to option for locations vulnerable to sun scorch or reflective heat. Given its recent introduction, its fast becoming a favoured choice for urban planting.

Environment

An excellent selection for urban settings such as carparks, where there is significant heat reflection.

Foliage

The leaves start as a lemon hue in early spring, intensifying to a golden yellow by early summer. As the season progresses and temperature rises, leaves transition to a light olive green shade. The tree stands out as one of the best options for vibrant yellow foliage.

Resilience

Resilient to urban pollution and less fertile soils. It thrives in challenging soil conditions like clay and chalk, but not in peaty environments.
