Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic Plant Area Manager for our Garden Centre, Hemel Hempstead.

The successful candidate will be a skilled team leader, highly motivated, enthusiastic, innovative and able to think creatively in order to maximize sales and profit.

He or she will be a good problem solver who knows how to get the best from a team and who is able to see the 'bigger' picture.

Good plant knowledge is important, a willingness to learn and passion for plants and gardening is essential.

The position will involve:

* Leading the plant area team to provide excellent customer service, and a product range that will inspire

* Stock control, purchasing of stock and associated maintenance of the plant area.

* Working to and exceeding budgets and targets

* Some responsibility for health & safety on site

* Being a keyholder

* Responsibilities when Duty Manager to include: banking/cashing up and taking responsibility for the whole site in the Garden Centre Manager's absence

Job Description
We are delighted to be able to offer a two year training opportunity which may lead to a management position within the Company.

We are seeking enthusiastic dedicated people, who are prepared to be flexible and willing to learn, who are also able to relocate on a temporary basis. Your own transport would be an asset.

You do not need any formal qualifications but you will need to be articulate, have an eye for detail, numerate and be computer literate to intermediate level.

The training will involve work based placements for up to 6 months in any one area e.g. 6 month's in a plant area, 6 month's in a shop, 4 month's in a coffee shop and 2 month's at head office. You will also be required to undertake work placements in other divisions e.g. wholesale and amenity nurseries.

Chelsea, Gardening Club events and Hillier Holiday's will also form part of the prospectus.

Although there is no guarantee of a management position on completion of the course, it is anticipated that those persons who have successfully completed the training will be eligible for promotion as and when a vacancy occurs.

The course is full time, 37.5 hour's per week.

Job Description
We currently have a vacancy for a full-time General Assistant at our Garden Centre in Newbury. Hours will be 37.5 per week to include alternate weekends (with a day off in the week) and some Bank Holidays.

Applicants should have a keen gardening interest, plant knowledge and must have previous retail experience as well as enthusiasm and self-motivation. Duties will be varied including till operation, stock handling and advising and assisting customers. You should also have an outgoing, friendly personality and be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

This role is physically demanding and will require a certain amount of heavy manual handling. A FLT licence would be an advantage.
